I-9 Employment Verification

(Non-Notarial Service)

An I-9 verification is a crucial step in the employment eligibility verification process that is mandated by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). In most cases, this form is used by companies to verify the identity of individuals looking for work and for employment authorization of individuals in the United States.

Ensuring the accuracy and legality of I-9 documents is important for both employers and employees. Whether the employee in question is a US citizen or from a foreign country, it is crucial to have the proper documentation in place. Companies that fail to properly complete and maintain I-9 forms can find themselves subject to significant fines and penalties for employers, and employees who violate this mandate may face challenges with employment eligibility and authorization.

In the current global workforce, hiring employees remotely is a growing trend. And the federal government is auditing more businesses to make sure they are complying with the requirements to complete I-9 forms for every employee.

Consequently, many employers hire Mobile Notaries to complete Section 2 of the I-9 form on their behalf, working as an Authorized Representative for the I-9.

How To Obtain I-9 Verification?

Obtaining an I-9 verification is a straightforward and simple process with ProActive Mobile Notary & I-9 Services. Simply schedule an appointment with us, and we’ll come to your location at a time that is convenient for you. During the appointment, you’ll need to present us with acceptable forms of identification such as a government issued ID card, or drivers license and any necessary supporting documents that are requested by the USCIS.

The notary public will carefully review your documents, then verify your identity, and finally complete the I-9 form thoroughly and accurately. Once the verification is complete, you’ll receive a stamped and notarized copy of the form for your records, which can then be provided to any employer.

Several Scenarios An I-9 Verification May Be Required

New Hires
Employers are required by law to complete an I-9 form for each new hire employee to verify their identity and employment authorization.

Reverification
I-9 verifications do not last for an indefinite amount of time, similar to work visas, they expire after a while.

Employers must also reverify the employment authorization of certain employees when their work authorization expires.

Remote Employees
For employees working remotely or in locations where it’s not feasible to visit a traditional notary office, mobile notary services like Fast Mobile Notary offer a convenient solution for completing I-9 verifications.

Independent Contractors:
Some employers may also need to complete I-9 verifications for independent contractors, or 1099 status workers in certain situations to ensure compliance with federal immigration laws.
